In 2026, the Silver Creek Neighbourhood Association proudly represented our community on the GO Station Secondary Plan Residents Advisory Group.
A key recommendation from the Advisory Group was to reduce the boundaries of the Major Transit Station Area (MTSA)—the designated zone where higher-density development will be focused around the GO Station. Specifically, the recommendation requested the removal of the low-density residential and heritage properties located south of the GO Station.
Why this matters: Removing low-density and heritage properties from an MTSA boundary protects them from provincially mandated high-density targets and land-assembly pressures that often lead to demolition. By drawing a clear legal line, the town directs intensive transit-oriented growth to appropriate areas around the GO Station while helping to safeguard the established streetscapes, history, and character of the existing neighborhood.
We are pleased to share that Halton Hills Town Council has officially approved this recommendation. The plan now moves forward to the Province for final approval.
We want to express our sincere appreciation to Mayor Ann Lawlor, our Ward 3 Councillors (Chantal Garneau, Jane Fogal, and Ron Norris), and the Town staff for their collaboration, hard work, and dedication to listening to local residents.
